A Keyboard Conversation with Philip Fowke (2)

By Informance, 2025-07-31 Posted in: Practice tools, Practising

Part 2 – Fingering, Pedalling & More

If you watched the first part of my Keyboard Conversation with Philip Fowke, you will have noticed that quite a bit of our conversation centred on the art of practising.

In this second video, Philip and I continue our discussion on matters pianistic: slow practice, hands-separate practice as well as pedalling, fingering, the myth of finger legato and all sorts of other things. Philip also shares some reminiscences about highlights in his career, including learning concertos on a plank of wood!
