Building Speed, Inventing Exercises & Get Feedback!

By Informance, 2021-03-18 Posted in: Events, News

In our next showcase of events from our Piano Day 2021 Festival, we feature workshops on getting your pieces up to speed, inventing exercises from repertoire you’re working on and an opportunity to perform online and get direct feedback on your playing!

Please see further details for each event below or click here to view the full programme. Click here if you haven’t attended one of our online events before and would like to find out more about how they work.

inventing exercises, building speed etc.

Technique Workshop – Inventing Exercises from Your Pieces

Saturday 27th March @ 16:30 – 18:00 GMT

Rather than separating the study of technique development from music, in this workshop Graham Fitch explores inventing exercises directly from your pieces. The workshop demonstrates how this works and gives tips and ideas for creating your own exercises for awkward spots and your overall technical development. Click here to book your place.

Getting Your Pieces up to Speed

Sunday 28th March @ 10:00 – 11:30 GMT

One of the most common questions pianists ask is how to get pieces up to the full speed. Many struggle to increase the speed beyond a certain tempo without their playing falling apart and hands and arms seizing up.

In this revised version of our most popular workshop to date, Graham Fitch gives a practical demonstration of practice methods for developing speed while retaining control and coordination.  Click here to book your place.

A Chance to Perform & Get Personalised Feedback

Sunday 28th March @ 14:30 – 17:00 GMT

Would you like feedback on a piece you’re working on? Or would you like input on a specific problem you’re having?

Our online performance workshops give you the opportunity to perform a piece of your choice for Graham Fitch and an audience of observers. Graham will then provide each performer with direct feedback and individual tuition. You are welcome to bring new pieces if you need help with them and pieces do not necessarily have to be performance-ready. The emphasis of this session is as much on finding solutions to problems as it is to refining and polishing a performance.

Click here to find out more about our performance workshops or click here to book your place. If you do not wish to perform then you are also most welcome to join the audience and observe the session (click here for audience tickets).

Weekend Pass – Save 20%!

Click here to save 20% by purchasing a combined ticket for all ten events! Online Academy subscribers are also entitled to a further 40% discount on this special price (a saving of £120!).

But I Can Play It Perfectly Well At Home!

By Graham Fitch, 2013-02-23

Of all the comments students make in lessons, the assertion that they can play it perfectly well at home has to be among the most common. I would guess that this is probably universal, and even though I don't think the statement is a lie I am not sure I…
