Take your playing to the next level!
Our interactive workshops serve as a complement to our extensive resource library and show you exactly how to get the most out of our materials by applying them to your playing. Using specially designed exercises, the workshops will give you hands-on guidance in putting powerful ideas and concepts into practice in a supportive environment.
How it works
The workshops are based on a format used in previous sessions which has proven to be incredibly popular. This has been further refined to incorporate feedback from our recent survey and to place more of an emphasis on practical activities.
The following is how a typical interactive session works:
- Preparation – You will be sent preparatory materials e.g. video lessons and other materials in advance to help you get the most out of your session. These will introduce the concepts that will be covered in the workshop and enable you to familiarise yourself with them. In some cases you will also have the opportunity to select a piece or a passage of a piece you’re working on (or the option to use a prescribed example if you prefer).
- Live Session – Each workshop comprises several exercises or practical activities. These will be demonstrated by the presenter following which you will then get to try them yourself in private breakout sessions. After the breakout sessions there will be an opportunity to ask questions and obtain assistance from the presenter.
- Follow-up Resources – The workshop resources and recordings will be sent out shortly afterwards and will be available to you to revise and reference without any time limit. This will enable you to revisit any aspects of the session in your own time afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
I would love to participate but I’m nervous about playing in front of others! Sharing your screen and working with our presenters is entirely optional therefore you do not need to play unless you wish to. The exercises are all designed to demonstrate specific tools and concepts rather than proficiency. It’s entirely natural to feel nervous playing in front of the group and our approach is to recognise and respect this, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for everyone.
How do these workshops differ from your previous interactive workshops? The formats are similar to interactive workshops we’ve run in the past, but there is a greater emphasis on the practical aspects with more time to try things out yourself and to obtain feedback.
Do I have to play or share my camera? This is entirely voluntary and you will not be expected to work with the presenter if you don’t want to! Even if you don’t opt to do so, you will likely gain a great deal of insights and encouragement observing others obtaining guidance and having their questions answered.
What resources are included with my ticket? These will be specified for each event but would usually include video lessons and worksheets to help you prepare for the sessions and to continue working with the material afterwards. These resources are all included in your ticket price and therefore you will have access to them regardless of your subscription status.
How long do I have access to workshop recordings and resources? There isn’t any time limit therefore you can continue to watch the recording and reference the resources featured in any workshop you’ve signed-up for on an ongoing basis.
Can’t join live? If you can’t join us live then you can still sign-up to receive the worksheets and then watch the recording of the sessions and try out the exercises at your convenience afterwards.
What pieces? Some workshops will specify whether you need to select a piece to use for the purposes of the exercises. In these cases there will also be prescribed works at different levels which you can use if you don’t have anything suitable yourself.
What level are the workshops suitable for? This will vary from workshop to workshop, but the exercises and examples will generally be suitable for a wide range of levels from late elementary upwards. They will be carefully designed to illustrate concepts and to give you a tangible experience in applying them yourself rather than to test your proficiency as a pianist.
Is any preparation required? Any preparatory activities for your workshops will be communicated to you in advance. These might be familiarising yourself with content that will be presented in the workshop through lessons and other materials or selecting a piece / passage that you would like to use for the purposes of the session.
