Enriching Your Musical Journey

A free presentation and Q&A about the Online Academy with Ryan Morison

Enriching Your Musical Journey

As the Online Academy celebrates its tenth birthday, we’re looking not only at what has been built over the past decade, but at how it can continue to support and enrich the musical journeys of pianists and teachers.

Join Online Academy founder Ryan Morison for a free presentation and Q&A. We’ll look at how to get the most out of the resources and learning experiences already available, how the Academy can complement individual lessons or independent learning and some of the ideas and possibilities we’re exploring for its next chapter.

Whether you’re already an Online Academy member or simply curious to find out more, you’re very welcome to join us.

What we’ll explore

Over the past ten years, the Online Academy has grown from an initial focus on practising into a much broader collection of resources, courses and learning experiences spanning technique, musicianship, repertoire, interpretation, performance and more.

Having access to knowledge is one thing. Being able to apply it effectively to your own playing is another.

During the session, Ryan will cover:

  • how to get the most out of existing resources, courses, events and learning experiences;
  • how the Academy can complement individual teaching and extend learning beyond what can fit into regular lesson time;
  • how it can provide structure, specialist input and learning opportunities for those studying independently;
  • some of the ways we’re working to make it easier to discover relevant resources and connect the Academy’s offering with your own learning;
  • future directions we’re considering for more guided, connected and community-based learning.

There will also be time for questions and discussion, and registered attendees will be invited to submit questions in advance.

Who is it for?

This session is open to everyone. You might find it particularly useful if you:

  • already subscribe to the Online Academy and would like to discover more of what it offers and how different resources and experiences can contribute to your progress as a pianist;
  • are considering joining and want to understand what the Online Academy offers and how it could fit into your playing, learning and overall musical development;
  • study with a teacher and want to extend your learning between lessons or go further into areas that regular lesson time may not allow;
  • learn independently and want access to structured guidance, specialist expertise and additional learning opportunities;
  • teach piano and want to develop your own playing and knowledge, while finding ideas, approaches and resources to draw on with your students.

About the Online Academy

The Practising the Piano Online Academy brings together practical resources, structured courses, workshops, live events and insights from leading pianists and educators, covering many different aspects of piano playing and musicianship.

It is designed to complement individual teaching and provide pianists with access to specialist knowledge, practical guidance and learning experiences they can draw on as they develop.

Enriching Your Musical Journey is the final live event in Ten Years of Inspiring Pianists, our month-long celebration of the Online Academy’s 10th birthday.
