Using Czerny’s Op. 821 exercises to develop effective practice strategies, effortless trills, rotation and more!
In this online workshop, Entrada Piano founder Fred Karpoff shows how a selection of exercises from Czerny’s Op. 821 can be used as powerful vehicles for cultivating successful practice strategies and developing technique. The workshop serves as a practical complement to his Online Academy video series and study edition, giving you a hands-on demonstration of the following:
- How to effectively combine rhythmic practice with whole-body technique to achieve outstanding results
- The secrets behind effortless trills
- Laying the foundation for double notes
- Integrating rotation and three-dimensional movement for tremolos, arpeggios, active finger passages and scales
- How to play the fast chromatic scale (hint – it’s not 1313123…!)
The workshop will be divided up into several segments each with break-out sessions giving you the opportunity to try the concepts presented at your keyboard. If you wish to, you can also share your camera to gain feedback from Fred.
The sessions will also be recorded in our studios and all participants will receive a link to download the video shortly after the event. Therefore if you are unable to attend the session on the day, you will still be able to watch the video at your convenience.
Who it’s for?
The workshop is suitable for pianists at all levels, including elementary pianists looking for an introduction to technical fundamentals through to advanced pianists looking for an effective way to improve their technique. It will also be of interest to teachers, offering useful tools and insights to help students develop their technique and solve problems.
