Learn a Piece in Just Two Months!?

By Informance, 2025-09-18 Posted in: Learning Pieces

How often do we start a new piece with great excitement, only to stall a few weeks later? Perhaps the opening bars sound polished, but the middle remains shaky. Or maybe the piece never quite makes it to the point of being performance-ready, joining a ever growing list of partially finished repertoire projects?

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone! Going beyond the initial note learning and refining a piece for performance is incredibly challenging. It’s all too easy to end up discouraged and frustrated, gradually losing interest until you move on to another piece. Or if you struggle with the same pieces for too long, a lack of progress can take the joy out of playing.

But what if you could learn a new piece from start to finish in just two months? What if you had step-by-step guidance from a world-renowned teacher, a supportive community to cheer you on and a clear approach you could apply to every piece you learn in the future?

That’s exactly what Graham Fitch’s new blended course is designed to help you achieve!

Introducing Learn a New Piece with Graham Fitch

This unique 2-month challenge gives you the opportunity to broaden your repertoire while also mastering the art of learning new pieces effectively. You’ll be guided from your very first read-through all the way to preparing for performance – with expert input every step of the way.

Here’s what makes this course special:

  • Blended learning format: video lessons, study notes, live interactive workshops and studio sessions for feedback.
  • Step-by-step guidance: learn how to lay strong foundations, apply effective practice tools and polish your piece for performance.
  • Community support: connect with fellow pianists for motivation, encouragement and shared progress.
  • Performance opportunities: join an online performance workshop or submit a recording for personalised feedback (optional but encouraged!).

How it works

You can choose from our recommended works, your own repertoire, or bonus scores provided as part of the course. Once you’ve chosen your piece, here’s the journey we’ll take together:

  • Find Your Inspiration (1st Week Oct) – Ideas and inspiration for creating your own narrative or artistic image for your piece
  • Laying Strong Foundations (2nd Week Oct) – Video lessons and materials on how to start learning your piece
  • Interactive Workshop #1 (11th Oct @ 15:00 BST) – Online workshop showing you how to apply a selection of practice tools to the early stages of learning your piece
  • Studio Session #1 (23rd Oct @ 18:30 GMT) – Opportunity to ask questions, get hands-on assistance and advice on tackling trouble spots
  • Interactive Workshop #2 (8th Nov @ 15:00 GMT) – Online workshop featuring practice tools for building speed and finessing your piece
  • Studio Session #2 (20th Nov Oct @ 18:30 GMT) – Opportunity to ask questions, get hands-on assistance and advice on tackling trouble spots
  • Preparing for Performance (Late Nov) – Video lessons and materials on how to approach practising for performance (or recording)
  • Performance Workshops & Feedback (6th Dec @ 15:00 GMT) – Opportunity to participate in a live performance workshop or to send a recording of your piece for private feedback

Why join?

By the end of the course, you won’t just have one new piece under your fingers. You’ll also take away a powerful framework for learning any future piece – faster, more effectively and with greater confidence.

Along the way, you’ll benefit from:

  • Expert instruction, trouble shooting tips and advice from Graham Fitch
  • Encouragement and accountability from a supportive group of fellow pianists
  • Bonus study editions, video lessons and practice tools
  • …and a real sense of achievement and enjoyment from performing your finished piece!

Have you ever pondered how many teaching hours in the course of piano teaching history have been devoted to certain famous passages from the repertoire? How much time, how much blood, sweat and tears have gone into the short introduction to Chopin's G minor Ballade, for example? I am usually unimpressed when…
