This October marks ten years since the launch of the Practising the Piano Online Academy.
We’re celebrating with Ten Years of Inspiring Pianists, a month-long programme of special events, conversations and articles looking back at how the Academy began, revisiting some of the ideas and questions that continue to shape our work, and sharing some of the possibilities we’re considering for the years ahead.
The programme unfolds across five themes:
From Practising to Possibility – Where the Academy began and how the original idea grew.
Removing Barriers to Playing – How natural, coordinated technique helps overcome obstacles and serves our musical intentions.
Why We Play – What makes playing meaningful and rewarding, and what can sometimes get in the way.
Beyond the Lesson – How online resources can complement lessons and support progress between them.
Learning Comes Alive – Turning understanding into experience and putting ideas into practice at the piano.
Looking Ahead – Where we plan to take the Academy next and how it can enrich the musical journeys of pianists and teachers.
Alongside the conversations and articles, we’re also hosting four special birthday events with Penelope Roskell, William Westney, Ken Johansen and Graham Fitch.
The complete programme, event information and booking options are now available on our birthday hub.
