Practise Creatively, Befriend Problem Spots & Create Your Own Stage

By Informance, 2025-05-05 Posted in: Events

We’re celebrating the arrival of spring in the UK with a packed programme of online events and workshops in May! Starting on Saturday 10th, Graham Fitch will demonstrate tools and approaches to make your practice sessions more enjoyable and rewarding. Then we move to a live broadcast of our “Practice sleuths” in action investigating and solving practice mysteries at the Art in Motion symposium on 17th May.

Befriending Problem Spots

William Westney will be returning with a follow-on from his February workshop which introduced a set of concepts for achieving an underlying sense of comfort, freedom and ease at the piano. In the next session on Saturday 17th May, William will delve deeper into these concepts and help participants apply them to specific areas of their playing.

The World is Your Stage!

And lastly, the first workshop in Part 3 of Adina Mornell’s Secrets of Experts course takes place on Wednesday 21st May. This final part builds on the materials on learning and practice strategies and teaches you how to create your own stage and enjoy performing for an audience of any size!

Creativity in Practice

The next two workshops in Graham Fitch’s interactive workshop series take place on 10th May & 7th June @ 15:00 BST. These sessions will show you how to:

  • Make practising mindful, imaginative, creative and enjoyable (MICE)
  • How to approach different practice states such as note learning, practising a performance, maintenance, memorisation and deep learning
  • Applying a selection of tools as “practice toys” for maintenance and avoiding habituation
  • Introduce “desirable difficulties” through activities that challenge and that require concentration

Creative and engaging practice sessions are not just more fun – they’re are also much more effective! Don’t miss this opportunity to discover how to enjoy more rewarding practising that delivered better results – click here for more information and to book your place!

Bundle Offer – If you missed the first two workshops in this series and would also like to work through the recordings and resources AND join us for these upcoming sessions, you can save by purchasing a bundle for all four workshops here for only £200 (£120 for subscribers)

Watch Our Sleuths in Action!

Saturday 17th May @ 13:45 – 14:30 BST

Watch our Practice Sleuths, aka Graham Fitch and Adina Mornell, at work solving mysteries and providing insights on practice-resistent pieces provided by a live in-person audience!

During this session, in person participants in the Art in Motion Symposium will bring compositions with sections that stymie them or seem practice-resistant. Together, the group will collect questions and embark on a voyage to find multiple answers in the form of practice methods – ways to work at the instrument that are inherently challenging, motivating and fun to employ.

Tickets cost only £15 (£9 for Online Academy subscribers) and can be purchased here. The session will also be recorded therefore if you are unable to watch live, you will also be able to view the recording at your convenience afterwards.
