We’re taking a break from our workshops and events over the summer, but in the meantime we’ll leave you with some highlights and updates from the year so far. We’re also excited to share some previews of what to look forward to over the latter half of the year!

Practice tools reloaded & repertoire resources
Our content library continues to grow with many new additions. Video lessons for over 40 works from the ABRSM 2025 & 2026 syllabus have been published, featuring perennial favourites and some exciting new discoveries. New instalments in Beate Toyka’s guide to Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier and the remaining parts of William Westney’s series on Bartok’s Mikrokosmos have also been added.
Graham Fitch’s practice tools video series now features over 30 videos which have been reshot in our studio with updated content, new repertoire examples and additional features. Starting with strategies and approaches for effective practising, the videos then provide detailed demonstrations of a smorgasbord of practice tools (or “toys”!) to help you go from learning the notes through to polishing pieces for performance.
In the coming months, we’ll be publishing the first of a new series of videos by Graham Fitch on tools for deep learning alongside resources for more works from the repertoire. These will include video lessons for several works by Beethoven and new From the Ground Up editions for two beloved works by Brahms and Liszt!
Mastering intermediate technique
June saw the launch of one of our most ambitious undertakings to date, an intermediate technique course by Fred Karpoff. This kicked off with an initial taster event, Freeing Your Technique, in May followed by a free discovery session in June.
The course comprises twelve instalments teaching how to use a whole-body approach to integrate effortless technique with expressive music making. The first instalment started by establishing core physical elements – posture, alignment, free fall and “vibrato” motion – that form the groundwork for an integrated, three-dimensional technique.
The second instalment goes on to reveal how to connect movement to tone – helping you bring music to life more vividly with greater nuance and a wider sound palette. From there we’ll move on to introducing and applying the basic three-dimensional form to scales, arpeggios and various repertoire examples.

Fred will also be presenting our first event for the latter part of the year on Saturday 30th August. This will be a free live training event open to all participants in the course, offering an opportunity to ask questions, refine your understanding and get direct feedback on your progress.
You can sign-up at anytime and more information on the course is available here. We’re also offering 20% off Part 1 or the full course as part of our summer sale – click here to purchase Part 1 for a once-off cost of £45.60 (full price £57) or click here to save £100 on the full course.
What’s in store?
Early on in Autumn, Lona Kozik will present the third part in her Harmony, History and Style series, this time delving into the the harmonic language of the romantic period. This unique series blends analysis and music history, analysing beloved works in the classical repertoire to understand and engage with music more deeply. If you’ve ever wondered how to go about taking a piece from an initial read through to preparing it for a first lesson, then be sure not to miss Ken Johansen’s two part series, Deciphering a New Piece taking place on 5th & 26th October. In the first part, Ken will use several pieces of varying styles and levels to show how to start deciphering and practising a piece effectively following a first reading. In the second workshop, participants will have the opportunity to submit scores they find difficult to decipher, or pieces they would like to learn but are unsure how to begin studying.
Learn a new piece with Graham Fitch!
Last but not least, we’ll be kicking off a brand new initiative giving you the opportunity to learn a new piece with Graham Fitch! There will be an initial introductory session on Saturday 13th September providing tips on how to choose a piece. Then over the next two months you’ll be guided through the process of learning and finessing your piece, culminating in an optional performance workshop or opportunity to obtain feedback on a recording.
The course features a combination of content you can work through in your own time with interactive workshops and feedback sessions to give you hands-on guidance and assistance. You’ll also be able to participate in our community to get inspiration and encouragement along the way.
Full details for this course will be announced shorty – be sure to sign-up to our mailing list for updates!
